GENERAL
  • Are there standard door sizes?

Standard door sizes are available at The Home Depot, Build.com, Wayfair, Amazon, Houzz and Lowe’s.

  • Do any of your models have a protective glass coating?

Coastal products can arrive pretreated with Coastal Clarity®, a proprietary sealant that helps prevent hard water spots and reduces time spent cleaning glass.

  • What glass choices are available?

Clear, Satin Deco, Obscure, Smoke Gray, Patterned, Corduroy, Restoration and Reed Mirror.

  • Is the tempered glass logo on every piece of glass?

Per regulations, the logo is required to be on each pane of tempered glass.

  • Are your shower doors reversible?

Yes, most Coastal Shower Doors are reversible in terms of the panel / door placement as well as left / right swing direction.

  • What is a bypass door?

A bypass door is another way of saying sliding door. Typically, they consist of two sliding glass panels (although there can also be additional fixed panels) that roll on tracks attached to the shower enclosure. The doors may simply slide in the tracks, or there may be mechanical rollers that assist the movement.

  • What are the dimensions of the wall jambs?

Dimensions vary depending on the configuration and metal type.

  • How do I know what size shower door I need for my opening?

Measuring must be done after the tile or finished wall material has been installed. Check to ensure that your walls are plumb and that your shower base/tub or flat surface shower floor is level. Start by measuring the desired height of the door on each side of the opening. The measurement should be to the nearest 1/16th of an inch. Select a door with a height less than or equal to the smallest of these measurements. To measure the opening width, measure the distance from wall to wall at the top and bottom of the opening. The measurement should be to the nearest 1/16th of an inch. If these differ, select a door using the larger width for a bypass door, or the smaller width for a pivot door. If you’re selecting a swinging door, make sure the door has room to swing open without hitting any obstructions. Hold one end of your tape measure where the door hinge will be located and swing it open.

  • What is the definition of a Centerline measurement?

Usually, this refers to dimensions measured in the center of the base of the unit. This arbitrary line, and its intersecting points in the case of a unit with end panels, is what is required for the correct placement of the shower enclosure. The center of the aluminum frame is placed, or centered, on this line.

  • Do your shower doors adjust for out-of-plumb conditions?

Yes, most shower door configurations allow for out-of-plumb adjustment. The amount of adjustment depends on the specific door series and style.

  • What can I use to clean the glass in my Coastal shower door?

Never use an abrasive or acid-based cleaner or a formulation such as “Clean Shower.” Squeegee the inside panels and doors after each use to maximize the life of your Coastal shower door. To restore the original beauty of your shower door, we recommend using the Coastal Clarity Shower Door Restoration Kit.

  • How easy—or difficult—is it to clean a door?

As with any shower door, regular upkeep makes cleaning fast and simple. Please refer to our Care and Cleaning Guide for more information.

  • How big is a door handle?

The standard handle is an 8″ through-the-glass ladder pull or c-pull, measured from the center of the hole to the center of the other hole. However, the towel bars on our bypass doors vary depending on the width of the panels. The handles are not attached to the metal, but instead centered on a panel of glass.

  • Can Coastal Industries towel bars and handles support a bather?

Towel bars and handles used in our showers are not intended to be used as safety devices and should never be used to pull oneself up or as a support in any way. These handles are designed strictly to open and close your shower door and to hang a towel or wash cloth.

  • What metal finishes do you offer?

Coastal offers a variety of finishes such as brite silver, chrome, brushed nickel, black bronze, polished stainless steel, black, brushed stainless steel, and platinum. Finishes offered will vary per model.
